Dark berries, red fruit, purple flowers. Palate is silky with concentrated, elevated berries and a rustic, unique, edgy, unmanipulated character emoting vinification in concrete. The wine is a field blend of Grenache, Carignan, Syrah from 50-70 year old vines from several small plots in the southern area of Montsant. The field blend is a tribute to the growers of Cartoixa de Scala Dei, the monks who planted these varieties over 1000 years ago. Josep Grau started his winery in 2003, unmoved by trends or fads, striving for authenticity and delivering the essence of the vineyards. Indigenous yeasts, aged in Austrian oak foudres.
